Staying Safe on Black Friday

With retailers dropping prices to all-time lows this Black Friday, you can bet that most stores will be full of tense shoppers frenzied to take advantage of the amazing deals. An article published in the New York Times on Tuesday, states that retailers are taking additional steps to ensure that shoppers remain safe on Black Friday.

Most notably, Walmart is implementing a new crowd control system to prevent another repeat tragic death like the trampling of a security guard in 2008. The retailer has called in a company that has managed crowds for large scale events like the Olympics and Super Bowl and will have customers line up for specific products and have employees hand out tickets for super hot items. Walmart will also open at 6am on Thanksgiving Day and stay open through Black Friday, hoping that the extra 24 hours will allow for a steady pace of shoppers versus a frenzied crowd Friday morning.

I was wondering if all the ads from the stores will have the items online for us to buy? Please let me know. BTW thanks for posting these blogs! I saw several Black Friday websites but not as specific as yours, you know how to really highlight a good deal and I appreciate that thanks! Also if items are available online on that day… will it also be available on the hours the store is open or how does that work?

      Hi Jelae-
First off, we want to say thanks for reading the blog. We’re glad you like it! Now, as far as online Black Friday deals, it really depends. We’re sure some stores will be offering great deals online, but not all. Many of the doorbusters are not replicated online. Of course, we will be doing our best to help point out what is available online as Black Friday approaches. Don’t forget that online sites like Amazon, Overstock and Newegg have great deals that can’t be found offline! Also, BlackFriday2009.com will have exclusive discounts that are available on the hour all day long online on Black Friday, so if you’re not the type to get up at 3am for a sale, we’ve got you covered. Plus, there’s Cyber Monday, the Monday following Black Friday that’s known to have the best online-only deals of the year. Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other questions!
